IHSA CLASS 1A ROCK ISLAND ALLEMAN REGIONAL
On a beautiful but chilly fall Saturday the Rebels traveled to the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island to participate in the IHSA Class 1A Rock Island Alleman Regional. Due to the COVID restriction, the Boys and the Girls races were divided into 4 heats. The first heat had each teams #1 runner, the 2nd heat had each teams #2 and 3 runner, the 3rd heat had each teams #4 and 5 runner and the 4th heat was for each teams #6 and 7 runner (if they had any). Alyssa Dyken (7th - 19:41) got the Girls off to a good start by finishing 4th in the 1st heat. In the 2nd heat, Ashley Orrick (14th - 20:09) was 4th with Lena Becker (16th - 20:39) just behind in 6th place. The 3rd heat saw Paige Rewerts (27th - 21:13) come in 5th and Trinity Shimmin (30th - 21:23) in 7th. In the final heat for the Girls were Riley Menssen (57th - 23:59) and McKenzie Stahl (62nd - 24:10). When the times for all 4 heats were merged together, Alleman had won the Regional with a score of 27, the Rebel Girls 2nd with 94, Ridgewood 3rd with 100, Orion 4th with 107 and Mercer County 5th with 109. These five teams will advance to next week's Class 1A Seneca Sectional (Saturday October 31). This is the 5th straight year the Girls have qualified for the Sectional. The Boys season came to end after finishing 11th with only the top 5 teams advancing to the Sectional. Caden Daum (38th - 17:56) was the top runner for the Boys followed by Payton Stahl (52nd - 18:27), Colby Carroll (60th - 18:43), Jack Winans (74th - 19:37) and Brett Browning (89th - 22:14). There was 90 finishers in the Girls races and 94 in the Boys races. All 7 Girls ran season personal best while 3 of the 5 Boys ran their season personal best.

This was the final race for Seniors Caden Daum and Brett Browning. These two young men showed determination and toughness and were great Senior leaders. Both will be deeply missed next year. Best of luck in the future to Caden and Brett!!!
